How are you? We’re great. The beginning of our journey to Australia could not have been better. This first real day in Singapore was awesome!
Even the breakfast was a new experience. We went to a Toast place on the way to Sentosa Island and ordered two different menus. I (Sara) had a “Traditional Kaya Toast” which was probably just toast with honey and butter. Michael had a “Toss Wig Toast” and we never found out what was on it :) We also got 2 half boiled eggs each but Michael threw his first one on the floor because he didn’t know how to eat it. The lady who cleaned it up said “Thank you!”. I loved the breakfast, Michael thought it was ok.
After that we walked up to Mount Faber, a great lookout spot and also the starting point of a cable car which we wanted to take us to Sentosa Island. Unfortunately it was closed (opens tomorrow) but they had a free shuttle service to Vivo City, from where we could go to Sentosa by a skytrain.
Sentosa Island is wonderful. It is very small and almost only a place to relax and enjoy. Beaches are beautiful, the water is warm and everything is very clean (just like the rest of Singapore). There are so many things to do we didn’t know which things we should pick.
We decided to go to Underwater World which is a museum of water animals. There were even basins with fish you could touch. You should have seen us touch huge rays. I could really feel how strong they are when they were moving, it was impressive. We saw a diver feed sharks and other fish and watched a show with pink (rosa) dolphins. On our way out we found two snakes. They liked us :)
Then we went to a park that was called Mega Zip Adventure Park. Thrilling! Unfortunately it started raining but that was really the only thing that wasn’t perfect today. We first did a ParaJump (a 50 foot drop, but of course a rope stops you before you hit the ground) and then the MegaZip (Asia’s most extreme zip line) (www.megazip.com.sg ).
Before going home we had dinner at a big food court inside Vivo City, a huge shopping mall that was so clean we could have eaten of the floor instead of our plates. Delicious Orange Chicken for me and spicy Curry Chicken for Michael. We enjoyed this first day a lot and are very thankful that we have the chance to see all these beautiful places.
Yours,
Michael and Sara
